rockin ybor: kamay and kenny

February 26, 2010

I love meeting new brides and their soon to be hubbies and Kamay and Kenny were no exception! They were referred to me through a mutual friend and after scouring my website and blog got in touch to see if I could capture their special day. When we first met up Kamay talked about loving bright colors and her desire for wedding images that weren’t so “traditional!” By that time, I felt like it was love at first sight! Nothing pleases me more than to hear a bride request something unique on their big day!

These love birds are getting married on March 6th at the Tampa Convention Center, followed by a reception in the stunning Teatro on 7th. It seemed perfect then, to meet up in Ybor for an engagement session, walking the streets where they’ll soon find themselves dressed in their wedding day attire.

It was loads of fun and quite a challenge for me too… Kenny is 6ft 5 inches tall! We won’t discuss my height, but let’s just say, I stood on my toes a lot! What a great afternoon getting to know one another more, laughing and cutting up and chatting about all the big plans! Be on the look out for one vibrant wedding- Kamay picked pink and black for her colors, which just made me smile even bigger as it’ll match my logo perfectly!

Without further ado, I introduce to you, the future Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Belcher!

Kenny was so great. Any time I looked up to guide him on the next “move” he was already one step ahead! Lots of sweet kisses, tender glances and hugs. Ah…. LOVE!

I told you he was tall! Models are tall right? (Sorry Kamay, I couldn’t resist!)

When we walked by this alley, I remembered Kamay’s request for some bright colors. I couldn’t pass it up. I’m glad we stopped for a few minutes. This is easily one of my favs from the day!

It’s not bad in a black and white conversion either huh?!Kamay and Kenny love the movies and frequent this location for dates. It seemed natural that we would spend some time here. I love the way their noses are touching… so romantic!

A black brick wall and a groom in love… WOAH! Another fav!

Ok, maybe I have too many favorites from this day. This couple is just too photogenic! I love the reflection in the window of the sky, which was getting ready to let loose some rain and the light bulbs added a fun touch as well.

Laughter- what could be better?

I asked Kenny and Kamay to just dance around. I was waiting for that precious moment when sparks fly and they forget I’m watching. Here’s my favorite sequence:

Stopping for a kiss of course!

Ok, hold on, there are some stunning images coming! I mean incredibly stunningI told you!!!
My goodness! I can’t wait to see their first kiss as husband and wife! Whew! And, what’s an Ybor session without a kiss in the streets? Perfect way to close out a perfect session!
Thanks Kamay and Kenny for an awesome time! I’m looking forward to your wedding in 8 days!! I know you’re going to rock those images too!

P.S. Don’t forget to leave some love (post a comment)! For 25 comments, Kamay and Kenny will  receive a free 5×7, for 50 comments they’ll receive a free 8×10!

They are so beautiful and a joy to view. The photography express the love in each and everyone of the frames. Each frame show a different story and reflects new beginnings. My favorites are the two of you in the street, the one your smiling at one another in front of the building and the reflection of your love look back at you guys…amazing. Also the one where you guys look so peaceful in the embrace of each other. Loving the black and white and the smile of you too play together.. i just love them all!!! Amazing photographer!!! Memories!!

OMG!!!! These photos are completely amazing. Annie you really captured the essence of Kamay and Kenny! The Ybor backdrop was perfect! If I were Kamay I wouldn’t be able to stop looking at myself in these pics. The couple and the pictures are so beautiful. I had two favorites. The picture of Kamay’s hand on the back of Kenny’s head focusing on her engagement ring and the picture of them on the sidewalk and Kamay’s is lying down with her head on his lap. I just love the backdrop of the picture. Simple but classy and elegant! I can’t wait for the big day!!

Well Kenny it getting to late to change your mind, However you are a great actor in these pictures it really looks like you really do love that short girl. Maybe there is something special in small packages “Open with care,”

Being serious I wish you both the very best I know that your love is true. You do take lovely pictures together or the photographer has a great way of hiding the faults. It is now count down time and I pray that you both keep God at the top of your love and in your marriage. Now Kenny once you marry her you can’t bring her back home. Oh! I forgot the Registrar’s Office is not home. Well I guess she can at least come back to work. May God bless this union and keep you both in his arms.

I love you both

True essence of love captured in a unique dialogue is what is in each picture of K&K. One of my favorite photos is when she is smiling facing the camera and he is sitting behind her holding her–>”he makes me smile” is what she says, and you really captured the beauty of her thought. Beatiful memories of a beautiful beginning…EXTRAORDINARY JOB!

Mimi posted the following on March 8, 2010 at 12:50 pm.

BEAUTIFUL!!!! Thank you for allowing me to witness such a beautifuly day! Congrats and have a fantastic honey moon!!

I love a couple with vision and style and that’s just what Jamie and Paul brought to this session! Shooting back in my hometown was awesome, but it was even better to have such great subjects to capture. They could seriously make the side of a barn look incredible…oh wait, they did! Get ready, this couple seriously rocked the camera-despite the wild wind!

We started off at the train tracks. It was pretty early in the morning, the dew was still present and the backdrop was perfect for the awesome purple dress and boots Jamie sported. Check these out:

Can you say gorgeous??!

Jamie and Paul brought several outfit changes. This wardrobe change reflects the colors of their upcoming wedding: black and white, with a splash of red… this first one happens to be one of my faves from the day!

So romantic, especially with the wind blowing Jamie’s skirt.

These next 2 are more of my faves. (Seriously, I’m not sure if I could really pick just a few.) When these 2 get in front of the camera, something magical happens. Love it.

Breathtaking.

When I saw the red chair, I knew that a wispy field would be perfect. It just so happens that Paul has some great connections and it wasn’t long before we found ourselves here:

Ok, guess what? Another fave!

We ended our session at a really cool barn (A.K.A. a friend’s man cave) So cool!

I told you they could make a barn look good!

A special request of the soon to be bride…

One of the neatest things about Paul and Jamie was their ability to go from serious and sultry to

sweet and playful in almost a moment’s notice.

And, to end the post, a few precious kisses!

What a great couple. I’m so looking forward to their wedding! Thanks Jamie and Paul for spending the morning with me and for being such incredibly awesome models.

P.S. Thanks to our “special assistants” who joined us too. The wind certainly gave you a great deal of work and your attention to detail made my job so much easier!

How did I forget this the first time around? For 25 comments, Jamie and Paul will  receive a free 5×7, for 50 comments they’ll receive a free 8×10!

an update from the heart…

February 16, 2010

This post has been a long time coming, but when I started getting emails and Facebook messages, asking when a new addition to this blog was going up, I knew I needed to fill everyone in on my life for the past month!

Photography is a wonderful part of my life and I enjoy it so much. Capturing precious moments makes my heart so happy and is a much needed creative outlet! God has blessed this endeavor more than we ever could have imagined, with more bookings than I anticipated and opportunities to meet such incredible people week in and week out!

It does mean lots of work and more late nights than I think I can sometimes muster! But, it’s rewarding and I love it!

The past 3 weeks or so, however, my entire family has been super sick. We’ve been to doctor appointments, had IV’s for dehydration, spent days in bed and have generally just been out of commission. Since my family is my priority, photography was “paused” while I tended to sick children and a sick hubby. This means: no blog posts, not a lot of editing, a lack of galleries being posted and the list goes on.

When I look at my “to do’s” I’m overwhelmed,  yet I know that it was not only necessary, but my responsibility to care for those I love so dearly first. Family first. Period!

So, for those of you who have sent cards and emails, made phone calls, texted words of encouragement and have extended grace…  thank you!

We’re getting back into the swing of things, and I’m working hard to get caught up. I appreciate your understanding and your patience.

And… just so you can get a glimpse of those sweet ones I’ve been taking care of, I wanted to share these precious pics with you as well: Collin, Griffin, Eden Grace, Matthan and my incredible husband, Rahul.

Blessings,

Annie

Annie,
Your kids are so precious but I’m telling you that gal in the middle is going to be a model – she just has the look … already at 3! Beautiful pictures from a beautiful photographer!

Yesterday morning I met up with a super sweet couple back in my hometown. Full of ideas and excitement Jamie, Paul and I got busy amidst the incredible wind storm it seemed we were facing. There are so many breathtaking images from this engagement session, but when I saw this one, it was screaming “Share me first!” And so… here it is!

There just aren’t words for the powerful statement this image makes. The clothing choices, the props, the scenery, the raccoon prints along the track, the smoky sky… I’m in love!!

Hope this is enough to hold you over until the rest are ready!!

Dee posted the following on January 31, 2010 at 7:51 pm.

Annie, it was so great to meet you for the first time and to share our Saturday morning with you. Maui said he enjoyed meeting you also, even though you weren’t as excited to meet him and he couldn’t join us for the shoot :) Thanks for letting the rest of the clan join.

This picture is amazing! I can’t wait to see the rest. Thank you for all the time you spent just sitting there waiting for my hair to fall in place and the wind to stop blowing. God couldn’t have given us a more perfect morning (no rain, Prayers answered for sure) and I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else shooting but you. I look forward to your creativity in all the pictures to come (it makes me anxious for Novemeber).

just a glimpse!

January 28, 2010

Well, the blog has been calling for an update, but it seems that between all the editing, sessions and sick kiddos around our house it’s been pretty hard! I did want you to see though, that while there might be a break in posting, there is never a break in breathtaking newborns, adorable families, sweet kiddos and beautiful couples. Here’s what I’m working on these days… just a glimpse!

Sweet baby Kaylee. I could just eat her up! Thanks Joel and Kristine for letting us stop by, catch up and snag a few pics of your little angel!

My gorgeous cousin and her twin girls. Always an honor to have the chance to capture images for people you not only know, but that you love so much as well!

McKinley’s first birthday! Seriously, how adorable is this little girl??

Here’s her big brother Mason. I haven’t seen him since his first birthday session. Boy, has he grown. Still as handsome as ever though!

One of my favorite times of the year, candid captures at WEE World. Nothing like a sister trying to share her love!

Finally, a beautiful wedding! Introducing: Mr. and Mrs. Vogelsong! Congrats!!

Remember… it’s just a glimpse. Lots more to come over the next week or so!

Dee posted the following on January 29, 2010 at 12:37 am.

heritage sessions

January 24, 2010

Your statutes are my heritage forever;
they are the joy of my heart.
My heart is set on keeping your decrees
to the very end.

Psalm 119:111-112

———————————————

When Sharon contacted me about getting together with her extended relatives for a gigantic session I was so excited. I’ve known this family for many years and have treasured their friendships in ways that words could not even express. As we began working out the details of how to coordinate nearly 30 people, I started to think about the heritage of this family, their love for one another and their increasing love for the Lord. You just can’t help but to be inspired and motivated when you are in the presence of these individuals and so I wanted to make sure their images reflected their incredible bond. These pictures needed to be special, unique, memorable and full of personality- just like this awesome family.

Sharon had a fabulous idea: using their property – both pastures and orange groves as the backdrop. I loved everything about this idea and thus, the Heritage Session was born.

What makes the Heritage Session so special? The images are still captured on location, in a place of importance to your family. They quickly turn into treasured heirlooms and provide the opportunity to freeze in time this season of life with those you love the most. They are a gift that keeps giving! In fact, every year, during our annual beach vacation my family does this very same thing. Aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents- the works…and while these images are often more posed than my typical style, they connect generations, focusing on relationships and the value of family.

What could be better?

So, take a look. Here are some of my favorite images from the Durrance Family’s Heritage Session.

Of course, I have to start with the kiddos and these black and white images take my breath away every time I look at them!

Certainly one of my faves of the day!

As is this one too! I love the way that big brother J.D. is touching his new brother’s head. You can feel the love dripping off of this image!

There is something so simple, but so breathtaking about this sibling shot!

Cousins dancing in the field. Love it too!

How adorable are these sisters?

I love the symbolism of the Great Grandmother to these little children sitting on the roots of this tree.

And I love how much she smiles!

Pure. Joy.

Some seriously special sisters. (Gorgeous too!)

Every year at the beach, my family does a cousin shot as well. We are super close, almost like siblings and adore one another. I think that’s why these images speak to my heart. I love the playful spirit of them, but more so, I think I appreciate how much of their love for one another shines through!

You can’t be in an orange grove without peeling into at least one!

Miss A. was certainly enjoying her juicy treat! Look at those eyelashes! Geesh!

Of course, this post wouldn’t be complete without a true “heritage” shot! This one is hands down my favorite of this incredible family.

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

Ephesians 3:14-19

sweet allie

January 20, 2010

In 2009, I created The Dream Calendar to help support Clouds of Hope, a local non-profit organization, whose focus is to provide support for groups and other organizations who care for families of children with life-altering illnesses. Allie was one of the inspirations for this charity project, as I have seen her battle through the complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura or ITP. She desired for a playground to be built in the Tampa area for children with special needs, just like herself- a playground that would be safe and fun. Our charity project was a success and through the sponsorship of local business to help create the calendar, Annie Agarwal Photography was able to donate 100% of the profits to Clouds of Hope. Over $7,000.00 was awarded to help begin initial plans for this playground.

All of that to say, today, sweet little Allie is scheduled for surgery in an attempt to help control and even cure her ITP, which she has dealt with for 3 years. This disease decreases the platelets in your body and makes blood clotting and bruising serious concerns.

Would you please stop and lift up Allie today? She will have to receive a platelet transfusion before undergoing a splenectomy, which is scheduled for sometime this morning.

If you are interested in sending the family a message or in keeping up with Allie’s progress, please visit her CaringBridge Site.

Javier and Juana were my first wedding of 2010 and I was so excited to capture their special day. I knew from spending time with them during their engagement session that their wedding would be fun, stylish and of course, that they would shine in front of the camera. Javier and Juana did not disappoint.

Since this happens to be the first wedding post of the year, I’m going to offer the first comment incentive of 2010! If you view this post and leave a response on the blog the new Mr. and Mrs. will benefit! For 25 comments, they’ll receive a free 8×10, for 50 comments they’ll receive a free 11×14!

So, with that in mind- check out their awesome pics and start posting!! Thanks Javier and Juana for starting off 2010 in style!

I met up with the bride early Saturday morning at Bellisima Salon where she started getting ready.
I love these images of her. She was beaming the entire time!

Then we headed over to the stunning Terrace Hotel, where Juana slipped into her beautiful dress amidst the most glorious sunlight you have ever seen!

Loved all of these details!

Juana was waiting on her dad to walk her down the aisle when I noticed this burst of light  just above the parking garage by Hollis Gardens, where Javier was anxiously awaiting her arrival. It was just stunning!

The big moment… Javier spotting his bride for the first time.

I couldn’t resist sharing this image from the ceremony. It’s one of my favorites!

This one is too!

Mr. and Mrs. Rosado! Javier stopped as they walked back down the aisle and embraced his wife. What a super sweet moment.

Beautiful bouquet created at Flower’s by Edith

What a gorgeous bride.

Javier, still modeling away!

I am in love with the expressions in this image. Simple. Fun. Happy!

While walking around after the ceremony, Javier told us he had spotted a cool place to take some images. (I LOVE it when the groom is this involved.) The fire station was such a great idea and after having some fun with their red door and garages, we walked around the corner to spot a fireman outside. With a grin I looked over at the bride and groom and asked if we might be able to take some pictures on one of their engines. He was thrilled to help and drove one right outside for us to use!  What a cool surprise!

Now this is how to have some fun with your couple shots!

The bride and groom also requested a “sign” picture and this one just makes me smile!

Finally, it was on to the reception. Here are a few fun details from the evening. I couldn’t resist Table #10, since it was the very beginning of the new year!

Such a sweet first dance!

Loved these centerpieces and the rings hanging from them.

Cake time…

The perfect ending to a perfect day. Congratulations Juana and Javier. May the Lord bless your marriage for many, many years to come!
